More Dead Space media is set to arrive soon, but don’t expect this latest to have moving pictures or speech bubbles. “Last Days” and “The Open Curtain” author B.K. Evenson has penned a book for the horror series dubbed “Dead Space: Martyr.”

It’s a prequel joint, set to hit this July under the hood of TOR Books, that gives its readers insight into the mysterious Church of Unitology and the discovery of the “Black Marker,” which is otherwise known as “that damn thing I pushed around for half an hour instead of shooting off limbs.” According to the press release, the book’s main character, a geophysicist named Michael Altman, makes a key discovery that leads directly into the first chapter of Dead Space proper. Interesting.
