According to a listing that popped up on Amazon UK this week, Marvelous’ Dead or School is headed west this year on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, following on from its previous release in Japan in August 2019, (it is also available on PC via Steam).
Dead or School is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer that combines hack ‘n’ slash action with thin RPG elements. It tells the story of a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, where undead monsters roam the city, forcing the citizens to live in the subterranean metro complex. Into this world comes a young girl, Hisako, who has never known life outside of the subway network. After hearing one two many sparkling stories from her grandmother, Hisako decides to venture above ground, on an epic quest to attend a mythological place known only as “school”. Yep.
In Dead or School, players guide Hisako as she navigates the Tokyo subway system, stopping off at real-life districts such as Shinjuku and Akihabara, and laying waste to the demons and ghoulies that plague the city. Along the way she will make new friends, learn new skills, gather powerful weaponry and stand fast against hordes of ravenous monsters, every step taking Hisako one step closer to her ultimate dream of attending class.
While there has been no official word from Marvelous Europe, the Amazon listing claims Dead or School will launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch March 30. It is available now on PC.
