Confirmed by the man himself

[Insert “kept you waiting” joke here]

There was this weird period where David Hayter wasn’t Snake. Although I thought Kiefer Sutherland did a great job, Hayter had always been Snake, could still pull it off, and was just kind of thrown to the side — if Konami had caused a huge irreparable rift because of that and Sutherland got bored of doing it, who knows what could have happened to the iconic role.

Apparently the rift wasn’t that wide though, as Hayter has confirmed that he is reprising Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We can likely assume that the codec call Easter eggs are still in, but at the very least the character will be sporting minor vocal work from the man who made Solid Snake and Big Boss so special.
