Dante’s Inferno not coming to Middle East (legally)

Recommended Videos

Surprise surprise! Dante’s Inferno, a game about a mental Christian who carves a cross into his chest and visits a Hell full of big-breasted demons, is not going to be released in the Middle East. Apparently they might have some sort of problem with that, so Electronic Arts has opted not to bother trying. Essentially, the game would have been banned anyway, so EA’s just saving itself the paperwork.

Unfortunately, due to the whole religious insecurity thing going on over there, a lot of games get banned for even hinting at something God-related. God of War is banned just for having the word in the title, and Darksiders was barred because it features a not-so-subtle allegory of Heaven and Hell. It’s all pretty infantile if you ask me, but then, most religious sensitivity seems childish to your humble writer.

Of course, as with all the other banned games, we’re sure the United Arab Emirates residents who want to play Dante’s Inferno will find a way. More power to them! We gave Dante’s Inferno a 9.0 in our official review, and I’m sure Allah would agree that it’s well worth a play.
