Cyberpunk 2077 Dream On mission guide – Which choice should you make?

I don't need sleep. I need answers!

Cyberpunk 2077 is full of fascinating side characters and missions. Possibly the most intriguing of these are Jefferson and Elizabeth Peralez in their side mission which culminates in Dream On. It’s one of those missions that rivals the main campaign and I simply could not get enough of. However, as you’re playing through it, there will be a choice with some serious ramifications for the characters. What should V do with the information they find?

Which choice is best in the Dream On mission?

Jefferson Peralez is a big figure in Night City. Not only is he a sitting member of the City Council, but he’s also a candidate for the impromptu mayoral election. He and his wife hold a unique position in that they are very much against the corporate takeover that has happened in Night City.

During the Life During Wartime mission, V will be contacted by Elizabeth Peralez. This begins the I Fought the Law side job. After being introduced to a potential love interest, River Ward, V is able to uncover a conspiracy regarding the murder, and probable, assassination of former Mayor Luscius Rhyne.

Later on, Jefferson will contact V once more for further assistance. This begins the Dream On mission. The couple had a break-in where Jefferson shot the intruder before passing out. When they asked their security team what happened, the incident was denied.

By interviewing Elizabeth and investigating their apartment, V can come to the realization that something is seriously amiss. The couple is being gaslit by their security detail and, even worse, their lives, personalities, and minds are being manipulated by an individual or organization who likely had the former Mayor assassinated to pave the way for Jefferson to replace him.

With this information, V returns to Elizabeth, who asks them to lie to Jefferson about what they found. She is clearly concerned about harm coming to her family if they fight back. While on the way to meet Jefferson, V is contacted by an individual who makes a very clear threat about telling Jefferson the truth. Here comes the big decision.

Lie to Jefferson

Should V not tell Jefferson the truth, he will go on to win the election by a larger majority. His personality is continually manipulated and several friends close to the couple comment on this to the press. Later, he will reach out to V to hire them as the head of his security team.

Tell Jefferson the truth

If V tells Jefferson the truth, his world is, understandably, shattered. He becomes extremely paranoid. Despite winning the election, he’s quickly unraveling and will contact V, stating that he thinks his wife is in on the conspiracy.

It’s a hard moral choice to make. Either way, the Peralez family is screwed. They continue to be unwitting pawns of unseen forces or they face the very real possibility of being seriously harmed or murdered. As such, it doesn’t technically matter what choice you make as there aren’t any repercussions in the remainder of the game.

Unfortunately, Quest Director PaweÅ‚ Sasko confirmed that the ambiguous finale for the Dream On mission was intentional. Much like “The Lady and the Tiger,” players are left to their own devices to guess what actually happened.
