CVG says Mario, Metroid and Zelda DS will be delayed until next Xmas

Is this a shock, honestly? Nintendo’s sorta like Blizzard in the way they develop and release their top games. They take their time and release the little bastards when they’re ready. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise to any knowledgeable gamer that the three most anticipated games in Nintendo’s portfolio next year may get hit with the delay stick. It’s all rumor at this point, but CVG tends to tread on the legit side, so you may want to put a tad bit of stock into what they have to say:

Reliable sources close to Nintendo have told CVG that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will not see light of day until Christmas 2007, which could mean anything from October to December.

CVG called Nintendo about the delays, and was told us: “We never confirmed a date for Super Mario Galaxy, but I can confirm that Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Phantom Hourglass will all release in 2007. We can’t confirm an exact release date for any of these titles at this time.”

Ouch. Xmas 07 for two of the best reasons to own a Wii? *sniff sniff* Do I smell a GameCube in here? Third-party devs better step up and fill those holes.
