The Neverhood is a one of a kind game, but not for long. Four of the game’s developers are in talks with fans about creating a successor for PC and Mac that will carry on the claymation and zany humor that made The Neverhood a cult classic that people like me will obnoxiously tell you, “STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND GO PLAY IT RIGHT FRIGGIN NOW!!!” — sorry.

The game was quietly teased on The Neverhood‘s Facebook page, but soon confirmed on Twitter by co-creator Douglas TenNapel. TenNapel is regrouping with Mike Dietz and Ed Schofield, who he also worked on Earthworm Jim with. The guys now work at animation studio Pencil Test, which will develop the game. Composer Terry Taylor also joins the group, but he has a high bar to meet because NEVERHOOD HAS THE BEST GAME SOUNTRACK EVER — again, sorry.

In 1998, The Neverhood got a platformer sequel called Skullmonkeys which was pretty neat, but this new project sounds like the real sequel I always wanted. Until a Kickstarter goes up, I’ll just be sitting here throwing money at my monitor.

If you’d like to further witness me gushing about Neverhood to an embarrassing degree, check out my ancient review for the game.
