The Japanese are getting Culdcept DS today, October 16th. The amazing card battling board game is now portable, will be playable with up to 4 players via Wi-Fi. I’m sure teams will be getting together starting today to practice for the big contest.
According to Famitsu, the next in the semi-regular series of Culdcept tournaments, named the All Japan Cepter’s Cup 2008, is coming up. The preliminaries start in November this year, and the whole thing wraps up in February of next year with the finals. A map called “Junction” will be released in November, just in time to be used for the tournament.
Being the “All Japan” tournament, we’ll never get to play. That’s fine. But what’s not fine is that we can’t get our hands on this Special Culdcept DS Holder. Made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Culdcept, this prize will be given to the national participants of the AJCC 2008 tourney. It’s made of genuine leather, sports the Culdcept 10th anniversary logo, and is sized to fit your DS or even the upcoming DSi perfectly.
As a side note, Japan is already getting downloadable content in the form of new maps. “Hexapod” and “Screw Screw” are the first ones (viewable in the gallery below). Cards are coming, too. No fair!
