New Tomb Raider, anyone?

Crystal Dynamics is now fully staffed for two new projects. Square Enix money is nice, eh? What are they working on, though? They’re not saying anything on francises or platforms, but this bit from Gamasutra‘s talk with Crystal’s art director Darrell Gallagher gives hope to Tomb Raider fans:

“What I can say is Tomb Raider, as a franchise, is absolutely part of the Crystal fabric,” he says. “It’s a key franchise and awesome to be part of… we’re excited about what we’ve been exploring, and we’re excited to share it with the fans at some point.”

He also says that the studio is open to experimentation and risks in an effort to innovate. And new parent company Square Enix is more than happy to share and collaborate. Just don’t go expecting any Final Fantasy/Tomb Raider crossovers just yet:

“That’s not what I mean by sharing,” says Gallagher. “It’s the key learnings on building brands.” Crossovers are “not something we’re actively doing between brands.”

Gex vs Cacutar fighting game? No?
