A third-person survival horror game set in an open-world San Francisco was once in the development pipeline at Crystal Dynamics. They key word here is “once.” It was called Downfall, prior to the studio going all in with the Lara Croft series.

Tomb Raider Biz has a ton of screenshots from Downfall, all of which were taken from the portfolio of Inna Cherneykina, a senior environment artist. The shots are gloomy, as you might expect from a horror game. It’s weird looking at scenes without any characters in them. Very weird.

As usual, there’s not much we can do, other than go “I wonder what that would’ve been like.”
