The domino puzzle found within La Fortuna Esmeralda during Chapter 1: The Lovers of the Eternal Flame can seem overwhelming at first, but the information needed to solve it is directly around you in the area.
First, you’ll need some intel on how to play dominoes. Basically, one domino can only connect to another if it has the same number on it. In La Fortuna Esmeralda, though, there are also symbols that have an assigned number, and you can figure them out by looking at the dominoes on the table and seeing which symbol connects to which number. This will help solve the wheel puzzle on the second floor.
Here is what the numerical value of each symbol is:
- Tentacle – 2
- Fish – 3
- Fin/tail – 4
- Shell – 5
Using this info, here’s how to solve the puzzle to open the door:
Moving any of the three rings of the puzzle will alter the locations of the others, so make sure to note the locations of the tentacle dominoes on the second and third rings. Once you match these up along with how the center ring is oriented in the image above, the door will open, and you can continue on your quest of finding the three mermaids.
