You may recall a while back that the man behind the Katamari Damacy games, Keita Takahashi, was working on a new game with a similar visual style and quirky Japanese flavor, Nobi Nobi Boy. I was unable to forget because the main character looks so despicably creepy that he hasn’t left my dark nightmares alone for a single God-damned night.

Nobi Nobi Boy aims to continue the work that Katamari started by finding unique ways to interact with a game world. The new game details tell us a little bit more about the twisted, monstrous, serpent-child known as Nobi Boy. He is described as an elastic tube that can stretch himself and snap back together, leap high into the air and swallow farmyard animals — wait, what!? I knew it, I always said he was a sinister little shit!  He eats farm animals alive.

Although the central character may look like Katamari‘s Prince deformed into a Hellish leech with the dead eyes of a child murderer, the game is promised by Takahashi to be a visually different experience, something that later artwork revelations will show. It’s also suggested that Katamari will be a more conventional title when compared to Nobi. More complex physics are also expected, along with a heavy use of network play.

Sounds like it could be just the kind of delightful romp that the PlayStation 3’s doctor ordered — but I don’t care about that, I just want to know when Nobi Nobi Boy will come to kill me. I’ve seen it in his eyes, those obsidian orbs of inhuman carnage. He is no boy, but a monster, and only I know the truth. Only I hear his whispers.

Nobi Nobi No More Hope.
