Creepy Castle, an RPG adventure published by Nicalis, is coming this summer

A throwback to the ZX Spectrum

Nicalis is known for bringing standout indie titles to wider audiences, most notably The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Cave Story, and 1001 Spikes. Next up for Nicalis is Creepy Castle, a sidescrolling RPG adventure developed by Dopterra.

Featuring a retro art style influenced by the ZX Spectrum, Creepy Castle follows the story of a moth (conveniently named Moth) who is exploring an ancient castle to discover the secrets within. It utilizes a turn-based combat system with unique twists depending on the enemy and multiple storylines each with their own characters, plots, and gameplay mechanics.

It certainly looks promising and super adorable, especially if the Kickstarter video is still anything to go by. There may also be some special guests from other indie titles, including Shovel Knight, Super Meat Boy, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Creepy Castle will be coming to PC, Mac, and Linux this summer.
