ININ Games has announced that Cotton Reboot!the all-new remake of the classic kawaii shmup – will be headed west on PS4 and Nintendo Switch in early 2021, expected to be around the same time frame as its February release in Japan.

As a quick refresher, Cotton Reboot! is a remake of the X68000 port of the 1991 arcade release Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams. It concerns the adventures of a young, mischievous witch-in-training, who teams up with a sexy space fairy to free the latter’s homeland from a malevolent force known as “The Evils.” Well, that’s the idea anyway, in actuality out hero has learned that her new pal’s home planet is full of candy.

Developed by studio Beep, Cotton Reboot! has had quite a trek to fruition, facing several delays and other hurdles en route to completion. But the cute ‘n’ colorful release, which features updated visuals, redesigned characters, and all-new score attack modes, along with the original X68000 release in its entirety – looks set to finally hop on its broom and take to the skies.

Cotton Reboot! will launch in Japan on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on February 25, with a western localization to follow soon after. A special Limited Edition is also in the works, and will be available to pre-order from ININ Games next month.
