Corpse Party is one of the most disturbing horror games I’ve ever experienced. Starting out on something of a cheerful note, the game allows players time to form bonds with its affable cast of characters. That is, before it rips all of that away and plunges headlong into darkness. The game certainly plays with one’s heartstrings and I can understand if one dose of despair was enough for some players, but if you’re up for another thrill ride this emotional roller coaster is coming around for another pass.

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is making its way to PSP and Vita for $20 via the PlayStation Network next week. This point-and-click pseudo-sequel features eight chapters which delve into characters’ back-stories, explore “what if” scenarios, and explain events that transpired during off-camera events from the original game. A European release for the title is also in the works and should be along shortly.
