Construct additional paw-lons for PlayStation Vita Pets on June 3

Definitely more fun than watching dog videos on YouTube

Nintendogs not doing it for you? Mobile pet sims lacking in the “aww” department? Feast your eyes on PlayStation Vita Pets, a pet simulator that aims to feel more like a game and less like a cash grab, exclusively (as if you couldn’t guess) for the Vita.

Spiral House’s insanely adorable pet sim aims to break the mold by allowing you to choose the pet of your choice and eventually leave the safety of your happy little home to em-bark on a Thrilling Adventure™ to explore Castlewood Island and the legend of a king and his faithful canine companion. Nintendogs only let you walk around the block a time or two, and sometimes you found presents.

Aside from doting on your doggie friends, you’ll solve puzzles and explore some decidedly creepy places, like graveyards, mines, forests, and eventually the castle located in the center of the island, where the king’s treasure is said to await you. I think they’re trying to channel some Scooby-Doo, and it’s weird, but I’m into it. If you wanna be a super sleuth, you have to play with and train your puppy pal, as well as probably dress it up in a cute fireman outfit or a pretty hat. Only then will you be able to unlock the game’s true potential.

Unfortunately, since PlayStation Blog commenter redthehaze inquired if the game will have corgis, I have to divulge that corgis have yet to be located in the available screenshots. The game is slated for release on June 3 though, so we’ll have to wait until then to find out. That should be plenty of time to add a fifth breed for Dale, so heads up to Spiral House. Pfft. So spoiled. Back in my day, we used to have to make “adoption kits” of Dogz and Catz on floppies so we could take those awful pet sims with us. You kids have no idea how great you have it.
