CoD fans claim Warzone in 2024 is ‘most miserable experience ever’

It's not in a good place.

Like most games, Warzone has had its fair share of good and bad times over the years. Still, some players claim that the battle royale is at its lowest point ever, describing it as “seriously the most miserable experience [they’ve] ever had playing CoD.”

In a post on the Warzone subreddit on April 29, kris9512 listed seven issues they discovered while playing, including severe lag, audio issues, map design, a boring loot system, terrible netcode, time-to-kill being too quick, and arguing that skill-based matchmaking is still too strong.

“How any of you still play this is beyond me,” they wrote. “Do the devs care anymore? Good job Resurgence is somewhat fun.”

Unfortunately for Activision, the feeling was shared by many in the thread. One claimed this was the “lowest WZ has ever been,” while another suggested it was “one of the worst games” they’d ever played and was “just bad overall.”

For many, their biggest issue is the current battle royale map Urzikstan. The original post called it “appalling,” while another post said they felt that there are “no interesting POIs” and has too many rooftops for players to camp on.

For me, the biggest problem with Warzone right now is that it feels like two different games. At one point, Resurgence felt like an additional mode to Battle Royale, but now, the two modes feel increasingly separate, affecting how I play the game. Truthfully, I’ve played Battle Royale for one night in the last three months, and these days, I just go straight to Resurgence.

Urzikstan is definitely part of the reason. I really don’t enjoy playing that map, so it drives me towards Resurgence. As mentioned by the Redditors above, the map lends itself to camping rooftops, and at this point, I don’t want to spend all my time sneaking around hoping I don’t get sniped by someone I don’t see. Perhaps it’s my age, but I’m only interested in having fun and getting into crazy gunfights, and Resurgence is s much better as a mode for that kind of gameplay.

With a new Treyarch-developed Call of Duty title expected later this year, it’ll be interesting to see how Warzone will change. It definitely feels like major updates are required.
