Civilization V’s box art is a big step up

A new StarCraft and a new Civilization in the same year? This is, indeed, a ridiculously good time to own a capable gaming PC. And you know what? I haven’t heard anyone make the recurring “PC gaming is dead” claim in, like, a whole month. That’s got to be some kind of record.

We don’t tend to dip into box art territory unless it’s a particularly slow news day; today is one of those days, thanks to the aforementioned Blizzard game. But, I feel like this cover art for Civilization V is particularly noteworthy in that it’s good, for once.

The art conveys what Civilization is about, and what makes it so fun: having an overpowered, technologically advanced army obliterate troops who have primitive weapons. September 21, launch day, isn’t too far off. We should be able to wait it out without resorting to cryogenic freezing.
