Chrono Warfare TD’s unit unlock system is progression-based rather than a Gacha which is extremely user-friendly. That said, there are some units that perform better in the roles of DPS, tank and support than others. Here’s my Chrono Warfare unit tier list.

In the S and A-Tiers above you can find the best units in Chrono Warfare TD. The ones in B-Tier can be good but are more situational and you don’t always need to bring them. As for the ones in C-Tier, they’re either too expensive or aren’t as useful for DPS/Utility as the higher-ranked units. Check out the individual ranking reasons below.

Is there a Farm unit in Chrono Defense? – No. This means that expensive units, which don’t provide as much value in proportion to their placement and upgrade cost, are ranked lower.

S-Tier Units

UnitRanking Notes

Archer
• Simply the most efficient ranged DPS in the game with perfect scaling
• Once you get them they will carry you for the rest of the game

Ballista
• A ranged DPS powerhouse that’s more expensive than archers
• That’s why I recommend selling them if they get heavily damaged
• Can be really strong but require more macro skills

Pack Hunter
• A much needed unit to counter invisible enemies since the Pack Hunter ability reveals them
• Plus it’s overall very useful in other aspects as well
• To unlock use Torcher ability to light up all campfires on Wave 18 (Place Torchers near wood pallets and use their ability whenever winter storms occur/towers freeze)

A-Tier Units

UnitRanking Notes

Plebeian
• Really good utility and used to bait Spartacus stun
• Plus you can use them for shielding meta towers
• Just a really useful cheap unit

Hunter
• Hunters will carry you until you get Archers or Ballistas
• Very flexible since you can build them for spam and then transition into boss killers on full upgrade

Legionary
• One of the best starters
• Best “melee” unit
• Much more efficient than Knight and Clubman

B-Tier Units

UnitRanking Notes

Clubman
• Decent melee units that can help you deal with crowds
• That said they’re very situational and Legionaries are usually better

Arbalist
• A highly situational ranged DPS that can work really well or just waste your resources
• Archers and Ballistas are usually more efficient

Forge
• Can be situationally really strong with Archers
• Can work really well with Clubman for massive crowd clears and tanking units for armor
• That said you don’t always need them and they’re very level-based

Kiln
• Good for clearing enemies that get past but is more of a supporting DPS option rather than a main one
• Some levels make it obsolete but it’s really strong on some levels like the Pack Hunter unlock level

C-Tier Units

UnitRanking Notes

Knight
• Strong but generally not very efficient in terms of price to stats
• I would skip it in favor of legionaries or clubman depending on the level

Siege Workshop
• Incredibly expensive for what it does which isn’t anything extremely necessary
• Can be good on easier levels but on harder levels the cost just isn’t worth it
• If they ever add a farm unit Siege will be much better

Torcher
• Just an overall worse version of Archers, Hunters and Ballistas
• That said there are some levels where you can exploit fire
• Also, they’re a Meta/must-have unit for the Pack Hunter unlock level for keeping woodpiles on fire
