Chiptunes plus ’80s electronic music is quite delicious

Quite Operational from Ubiktune

Recommended Videos

Ubiktune is at it again, this time with a new artist named Monomer who’s debut album, Quite Operational, combines ’80s-tinged electronic music with 8-bit accents. While I’d normally pass on something that so heavily emphasizes the electronic side of the equation, the retro tastiness and bassiness of the ’80s synth work matches perfectly with the 8-bit elements.

You can stream it for free or pick it up for $5 on Bandcamp via Ubiktune. I can’t really pick favorites because it’s all good, but I’m curious to hear what you think of it and of hybrids between popular music styles and chiptunes that we’re seeing more and more lately.
