China bans Battlefield 4

Surprise, surprise

I remember browsing the Origin store a few days ago to see if EA was going to at least try and compete with Steam’s Holiday Sale when I came across the Battlefield 4: China Rising expansion in the ‘New Releases’ section. I thought to myself, “Hah, I bet the Chinese government won’t be too happy about that.”

Turns out that I was right, because they’ve just banned Battlefield 4.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Chinese government cited “national security” and aggression towards Chinese culture as its reason for issuing the ban on DICE’s shooter; Battlefield 4 wasn’t available in China to begin with, so I doubt this’ll have much of an affect on EA.
