Check out these 8-bit game sprite pixel stockings

What the hell are Christmas stockings anyway? Why do we put stuff in them? Are they supposed to be Santa Claus’ socks? Why would we want to do that, and what relevance do they have to videogames anyway?

A big-assed red sock on the wall has never made sense to me, but these 8-bit game sprite stockings are something I can get behind.

Reader bookwo3107 (Greg) sent us images of his Christmas stockings done right. He already has a Super Mario Bros. 3 family and Bub from Bubble Bobble done, and is currently working on Link and a Black Mage versions.

“It started with my burning need for a Kuribo’s shoe stocking, and blossomed with everyone I know getting 8-bit gifts,” says Greg.

As for how they’re made, Greg says that they’re all felt and fleece. Each pixel becomes 1 sq. inch of fabric, and they’re all hand stitched. Pretty nifty!
