Check out the new Warframe opening cinematic from 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg

It’s something to behold

If there is one aspect of Warframe that’s lacked behind all the other facets that make up the game, it’s getting new players into the vast lore Digital Extremes has created for it. There is a lot to soak in within the first few hours and it’s easy for players to just forget about paying attention to the storyline and instead focus only on the looting and shooting. I’ll admit in my months of playing the game, I haven’t always been 100% clear on everything that was happening in the overall plot.

To make things easier for new players, and to give them an idea of the scale of the universe they’re dealing with, Digital Extremes debuted a new opening cinematic at Tennocon 2019, directed by Dan Trachtenberg, best known for helming 10 Cloverfield Lane and the upcoming Uncharted film.

Veteran players might notice some slight story spoilers in the video and how some of what we see in it isn’t how the game plays. Game director Steve Sinclair confirmed the trailer is indicative of changes that are in store for Warframe, including updating Mag, one of the first frames you can access in the game, and adding the swamp area. Digital Extremes plans on incorporating the new opening cinematic into Warframe in late 2019/early 2020.
