Alright, so to get it out of the way, Harmonix didn’t really do much to overhaul the character creation for Rock Band 2. At first glance, it’s mostly the same: you have a handful of faces to choose from, you slap on some hair, and you choose from a bunch of clothing in different styles.

If you’re expecting some huge innovation in this department, you might be disappointed. What they have done, however, is brought back everything from the original game and tossed in a bunch of new assets, which is not necessarily bad news.

While your original rockers from the first game can’t be ported over, if you want to re-create them, you shouldn’t have a problem. Plenty of new stuff has been added, including new face and hair styles, and an entirely new clothing style, Thrift Threads, which is a grab bag of stuff you might find while trawling Salvation Army shops.

Personally, I’m most excited that I can put a Jason Voorhees-like hockey mask on my character, a feature which most games should offer. Hit the jump for video walkthroughs that show off some of the new assets for both male and female rockers. See anything you like?
