CES 2008: CNET awards Nyko Wireless Nunchuk ‘Best of CES’ award for gaming

When Topher wrote about Nyko’s forthcoming wireless Nunchuk peripheral for the Wii back in December, I was a bit skeptical — a wireless nunchuk? The Wii remote itself is already untethered, and the first-party nunchuk does offer a sizeable leash. So is this really necessary?

CNET apparently thinks so, awarding it “Best of CES” for the gaming category at this year’s show. Better than LittleBigPlanet. Better than Yoda fighting Mitsurugi. Better than a curved gaming monitor. Better than everything gaming related at this year’s CES. A wireless nunchuk for the Wii.

Don’t get me wrong — I want one; my cats like to chew on wires. OK, fine … I like to chew on wires. But this is exactly what it sounds like — a wireless nunchuk that functions exactly like a wired nunchuk. Except it doesn’t have wires. That’s why it’s called “wireless.”

The peripheral will be available in the first quarter of 2008, and will ship with the necessary two AAA batteries which Nyko says will provide up to 30 hours of gameplay. Also, it’s wireless. Did I mention that yet?
