Catherine’s leaked Achievements are utterly spoileriffic

I’m largely apathetic towards Xbox LIVE Achievements and PS3 Trophies, though I certainly don’t mind earning a few for a little extra effort. Just a little (sorry, Dead Rising 2‘s “Zombie Genocider”).

However, it’s moments like these that make me almost hostile to the whole concept. Y’see, the achievement list for Atlus super-hot action-puzzler title Catherine has been leaked, and while they provide some gameplay information, they also spoil all kinds of details, including juicy bits about the game’s multiple endings.

I couldn’t bring myself to read the spoiler-y achievements, so I’ll let you head over to Andriasang at your peril.

The ones I can tell you about, though, are the bits that reveal more about how this action-puzzler will play. Achievements for using special “Jump Stones” and triggering chain explosions also abound, including helping other characters with their problems. Methinks Vincent might not be exploring just his own nightmares.

Other, quirkier achievements include outlasting all other patrons at the Stray Sheep bar, answering texts, and listening to information about the many drink mixes available at the bar. Incidentally, getting plastered at the bar does in fact make Vincent more agile in the nightmare world.

I can’t wait for some folks to freak out about Catherine supposedly promoting alcoholism. Then again, given what happens to men who cheat on their girlfriends in the game, you could also say it promotes monogamy. Check out some screenshots below.

Excited yet, now that you know this is actually a game? Are you ready to be as drunk as possible while escaping from a heart-shaped ass-face monster while in your underwear?
