Cat Girl Without Salad pounces onto Nintendo Switch

Former April Fools’ Day gag returns

WayForward Games, in collaboration with publisher Humble, has surprise-released goofy shmup Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse Bouche on Nintendo Switch. The colourful, tongue-in-cheek title is available to download from the Nintendo eShop right now.

Cat Girl Without Salad is one of those titles that initially began life as an April Fools’ Day joke, when WayForward debuted its trailer on April 1, 2016. After fans really took to its wild stylings, weird concept, and fun characters, WayForward eventually reworked the jokey idea into a full game, which was released on PC later that year.

In Cat Girl Without Salad, players wear the pink pigtails of intergalactic bounty hunter Kebeko, as she journeys through the galaxy taking down wanted felons such as the mad cook Chefinoff, the out-of-control rockstar Gunnar Crossbones, and the dastardly Uramiko – better known as “CatGrill.”

To face down these boss characters and their minions, Kebeko is armed with an arsenal of weaponry that represent different gaming genres. For example, a “Puzzle” gun that works like Bust-A-Move, a “Sports” gun that works like the momentum meter in golf games, and a “Dance” gun that requires Kebeko hits rhythm-action style on-screen inputs.

Frankly, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds, but Kebeko is a cutie-pie, so we’ll let her off.

Cat Girl Without Salad: Amuse Bouche is available now on PC and Nintendo Switch.
