Castlevania is crossing over with V Rising this May

Fire up the pipe organ.

Konami and Stunlock Studios have announced that the vampire survival game V Rising will be getting an update that crosses the game over with Castlevania. The Legacy of Castlevania update will be free and is coming on May 8.

The update will bring Simon Belmont to the game, with the teaser trailer suggesting that you’ll be fighting against him, which makes sense since you play as a vampire. The press release also describes the Vampire Killer whip will be added as a new weapon, which makes less sense because it’s consecrated.

On top of all the free additions of Simon and the whip, there will also be a paid “Premium Pack” that includes themed castle parts.

I played V Rising closer to its initial Early Access release and really enjoyed it. There were some places it needed to improve and tighten, but this was probably a year ago and those things may have been both improved and tightened. That’s what Early Access is for, after all. It’s a crafting survival game like the many that are out there now but with an excellent focus on vampires. You build your castle, enthrall some followers, and make sure you’re well-fed.

One of the first things I thought of when creating my castle was how awesome it would be to make something like Dracula’s Castle from Castlevania with its impractical gothic towers.

Unfortunately, we only have the teaser trailer to go off of, which doesn’t show any of the added features in action. We’re just going to have to use our imaginations.

That is until the Legacy of Castlevania content pack arrives on May 8th. This is also when V Rising leaves Early Access on PC and will be released on PS5.
