Castlevania arcade game hits Japan, looks perfect for the Wii

It looks like the Castlevania arcade game we showed you awhile back has finally hit Japanese arcades this week.

Castlevania: The Arcade uses a “whip/sword controller,” that (as you can see above) looks like a stumpy light saber. By waving this flash-light in front of the screen, you can snap at and slice up enemies. Each controller has a tiny red button on it, and when pressed activates different in-game items that you’ll pick up throughout the game.

Like most arcade-style “light gun” games, Castlevania: The Arcade features cooperative play. The Japanese arcade machine also supports the ability to save your characters info onto a card data onto a card, as well as nationwide networking support for things like rankings.

There’s a video of the game over at its official Web site, which gives you a good idea of what to expect. And what we’d like to expect is that Castlevania: The Arcade gets ported to the Wii at some point, because it’s obviously a perfect fit. Also, none of our friends want to play Castlevania Judgment with us.
