Japan has always had mad love for their Doragon Kuesuto games, so it should be no surprise to anyone that the newly released DS remake of the 1990 Famicom title has sold out in some locations, and 597,000 copies have been sold this past week. I bet Square Enix is excited, as this is only the first of several remakes on the way.

Wired’s Game|Life makes an excellent point about the likelihood of Square Enix titles coming to the Wii’s Virtual Console. With well over half a million units sold of a DS remake in one week, why bother with the Virtual Console? They can just retool the oldies and make a lot more money.
