Capcom is hedging Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers’ success entirely on the Switch

It’ll only come to other systems if it sells

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, announced for the Switch this past week, has a lot of potential. I mean, it’s another old school remake of Street Fighter II, with new characters and mechanics — but for now, it’s only going to be a Switch joint, so don’t get your hopes up.

When asked about the possibility of appearing in other platforms, series producer Yoshinori Ono stated, “If this title sells extremely well we’ll consider it. We put a lot of thought into how this can be fully enjoyed on the Nintendo Switch, so for the time being it’s only going to be on Switch.”

I can see a future where the game doesn’t sell, and it’s forced to rot on a system that Nintendo may not even support for that long (we’ll see when it gets here). Sounds like classic Capcom and Nintendo shenanigans to me! I’m a sucker though, because newcomer Evil [Violent] Ken has me interested. I’m huge on those Dark Hado characters.
