Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle levels-up with patch full of fan-requested features

New screen filters, sizes and mid-session joins

The Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle launched back in October and brought along a new audience for seven old-school games along with it. While the quality of decades-old games is in the eye of the beholder, the lack of a few modern features disappointed most fans overall: a problem Capcom has addressed with the most recent patch.

Old-school filters (scanline/arcade) are in and have basically become a standard in curated collections. Screen sizing options are also in the November patch, including full size and original aspect ratios (again, something that usually ships with packages like this). The best new feature has to be the mid-session match joining option, which can be toggled on to allow players to join you in the middle of a game.

There’s a little more work to be done with online connectivity, but the real job lies with Capcom’s lawyers to add Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Alien vs. Predator as DLC. It was a simpler time back then when we could have silly fun beat-’em-ups that flew under the radar instead of two high-profile junk quality Hollywood films.
