Capcom announces Street Fighter live-action show at SDCC

[Update: Here’s the announcement video that was screened during the panel.]

Two years ago, there was a pretty bad-ass Street Fighter fan film called Street Fighter: Legacy that you might have seen. After it blew up the Internet, creator Joey Ansah expressed an interest in producing a full-length Street Fighter movie or show. Looks like he got that chance, and with the complete support of Capcom to boot!

At Comic-Con, Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono announced Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, a multi-part series being helmed by the Legacy crew. According to director Ansah (Akuma in Legacy, Desh in The Bourne Ultimatum) and co-writer Christian Howard (Ken in Legacy), Assassin’s Fist will explore the histories of Ryu, Ken, Gouken, and Akuma as well as the dark secrets of their fighting style, “Ansatsuken.”

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist will premier in 2013. If it’s even half as amazing and faithful to the games as Legacy was, I doubt you’ll be hearing many complaints.
