After news in March that the Onimusha film had been put on indefinite hold, I pretty much gave up hope of seeing the film, but it seems its been given a second chance after all. According to Capcom’s US blog, an ad celebrating Capcom’s 25th anniversary had some interesting tidbits at the bottom — a release date of 2009 for the Clock Tower film and 2011 for Onimusha.
Christophe Gans seems to still be in charge of the Onimusha adaption, while Martin Weisz remains in charge of Clock Tower. I’m as sketch as ever about games being made into big Hollywood productions, but these are two I would at least give a chance. Not to mention, Gans is the only one who I felt was able to communicate what the game experience was like in his Silent Hill adaption.
