In the original Persona 3, there was a chance that you could reverse your Social Links from inactivity with certain links or commit a social faux pas, eventually breaking them. With Persona 3 Reload, we were all a little concerned those butal mechanics may return. Fortunately, we can put those fears to rest.
Persona 3 Reload does, in fact, have Social Link reversal, but they will not break. This practice was toned down or removed in later Personas, but it returns here in a less brutal iteration. Therefore, you can course-correct any reversed Social Links without worrying about completely destroying the relationship’s corresponding Arcana.
What is Social Link Reversal?
The original Persona 3 punished its protagonist for neglecting friendships, cheating, or double booking their day. If you screwed up, they’d stop being available until you reconcile with them. In some cases, if never making up meant breaking the bond, so fusing the respective Arcana became impossible. Though without breaking, Persona 3 Reload reverses Social Links if you break a promise, say something wrong, or do not spend time with them in 60 days (around two months).
Why is Reversal in Persona 3 Reload but not breaking?
An easy answer to that question is it made things a bit too difficult. As there are tons for players to do within Tatsumi Port Island, it’s easy to lose yourself in various tasks. Plus, with the many social links available with varying periods of availability, saving time for some can be tricky. To add to that, making one or two wrong moves could halt all progress. If time management isn’t your thing, be thankful it’s not here. Trust me, it was not fun.
How to fix Reversal?
If you happen to reverse one of your Social Links, you can do two things: pray at the shrine or talk to them. At the Shrine, you can pray for forgiveness, but the activity will take up your day, so choose your time wisely. If you are in a crunch for time, you can speak to the affected Social Link and reconcile. You do have to make better dialogue choices or else you’ll have to try another time.
