Call of Duty: World at War sales are strong

Surprise! Call of Duty: World at War is a popular buy. According to the official Call of Duty Web site, the title has exceeded eleven million units sold since November 2008. But that’s not all: that hefty sales feat sits on top of the reported two million units sold of World at War’s first downloadable expansion, “Map Pack 1.”

By our calculations, the roughly eleven million owners of the game have collectively had around forty trillion grenades thrown at them and been tea-bagged at least sixty billion times. Sexy.

The second bit of downloadable content for World at War, “Map Pack 2” debuted on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network June 11. We don’t have hard numbers yet, but there’s really no need to start counting: we have a hunch it’ll be a big number, like, in the millions or something.

Considering more units of Call of Duty: World at War have flown off store shelves than there are people in Mississippi, Arkansas, Kansas, and New Mexico combined, we were wondering: have you bothered to pick up Treyarch’s latest offering? Or are you the cool rebel?
