Treyarch has announced that the latest update to blockbuster shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now live on PS4. Update 1.16 brings a new story chapter to the time-hopping Zombies mode, and also adds new features in standard multiplayer and Blackout battle royale. The update will roll out on PC and Xbox One in the near-future.

The meat of the update is Zombies’ new “Ancient Evil” content. This sees our heroes trapped in the subterranean city of Delphi where, guided by the imprisoned Oracle of Delphi, Scarlett, Bruno Shaw and Diego must battle undead citizens, giant multi-armed warriors and other monstrosities to learn the secrets behind Scarlett’s long-lost father.

For those who prefer their Call of Duty action a little more traditional, then Multiplayer receives Barebones, which offers old-school 6v6 modes, with Specialist skills, gear and weaponry removed, taking it back to basics in an effort to capture the classic CoD multiplayer that would define a genre.

League Play has received new ranking levels, with players able to reach a new peak of level 21-30. This will come in handy for the also newly-added Skill Divisions, which will group similarly leveled players together in a fight to climb to the coveted Master Division. Ricochet Friendly Fire has also been activated. Not dissimilar to the recent Rainbow Six Siege update, RFF will reflect damage from frequent team-killers back at the perpetrator.

Finally, Blackout battle royale will receive new features, including co-pilot support for certain vehicles, Outrider and Zero’s specialist items Sparrow and the EMP Distributor have been added as supply stash weapons, and Collapse damage now increases the longer you remain dawdling in it. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
