Although they will have a presence at the show, Bungie is going ahead and skipping a full E3 reveal for its “Year 2” plans, and will instead reveal them completely ahead of time on June 5.

The stream will take place on Bungie’s Twitch channel on June 5 at 9AM PT, and the company is simply teasing the reveal of Year 2, with no extra bells and whistles. As previously stated Bungie has “something new for the first-person shooter genre” to reveal at some point, which may or may not be teased during the June 5 stream.

Okay so there’s a lot to unpack here. Bungie absolutely needs a win after the lackluster response to Destiny 2′s first two micro-DLCs, which haven’t done a whole lot to address the chief concerns of a lot of habitual players. Many basic features from Destiny 1 are still missing, and aren’t scheduled to be added into the game until later this year. Other messes, like the new unnecessary mod system, have also yet to be cleaned up.

Even though their reputation has been irreparably damaged to some degree, they still do have time to slowly clean up all of the quality of life cracks and really knock it out of the park with the Year 2 update, just like they did with Taken King. We’ll know more soon enough!
