Brawl in the Family celebrates 400 strips with a musical

I’ve mentioned before how much I enjoy Matthew Taranto’s Brawl in the Family webcomic. It doesn’t seem like that long ago when those first Kirby gags appeared, yet here we are, 400 strips later. It’s only fitting that such a milestone would be accompanied by one of Taranto’s famous musical numbers — remember, he also performs the lead role in the fan-made Ace Attorney musical.

Behold “The History of Nintendo,” a toe-tapping chronicle of the company’s origins as a playing card maker through the development of some of the greatest (and not so great) gaming hardware around. Then the 2:25 mark comes along, and Matt totally blows up the spot like a boss!

This video couldn’t have come at a better time. Frequent visitors to the site will be aware that Matt recently underwent major surgery and was temporarily unable to work on more strips. This video demonstrates that no malady can hold him down and that he’ll continue to make BitF for as long as he still has breath. Congratulations, Matt! Here’s to health and fandom!
