Boyfriend Dungeon is a dungeon crawler and a dating sim

Show your sword some love

I never know what to expect with Kitfox Games and I love that about them. Their last offering, The Shrouded Isle, was a sim game that let you manage a cult, sacrificing your subjects one by one to a Cthulhian sea god. It was good at being that very specific thing and I enjoyed it a great deal.

I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy this one even more.

Coming in 2019 to PC, Boyfriend Dungeon has two clear components: work your way through dungeons fighting monsters, and then use your hard earned cash to treat your weapon to a lovely dinner.

As you can see from the character cards below, you’ll have at least four weapons/cuties to choose from, but the trailer hints at more. I’m intrigued! In the trailer, you’ll catch cheeky glimpses of the talwar (AJ), dagger (Valeria), and épée (Isaac). According to Kitfox, Dagger/Valeria has a secret identity and “might need a co-conspirator in a caper.” I’m intrigued x2!

Besides beautiful people who double as weapons, Boyfriend Dungeon features procedurally generated dungeons and varied combat styles, probably due to the different weapon types. The catchy song in the trailer is by Marskye, who did some of the music for Lara Croft GO, featuring Madeleine McQueen.

Boyfriend Dungeon is bound to catch some eyes considering the success of dating sims like Dream Daddy, especially with the added element of dungeon style gameplay. You can keep up with it at the official site.
