The Boy Scouts of America has announced a new merit badge in game design. A part of the organization’s efforts to become more relevant to 21st century life, the program has been crafted over the course of two years to be both interesting and educational for the contemporary youngster.

Scouts looking to earn the merit badge must analyze different genres and facets of design in addition to broader industry-related concerns like the significance of intellectual property. Participants will also create prototypes ranging from dice and board games to smartphone applications, which sounds a tad more interesting than tying knots. Man, did I hate tying knots.
