Blizzard hosting a Starcraft II World Championship Series

StarCraft II is growing in popularity over here in the West and I think most of us know just how big it is over in Korea. For those who live in other countries, however, the eSports scene is not quite up to par. Well, with Battle.net’s World Championship countries like the Ukraine finally have an opportunity to prove that they are indeed not weak.

Each of the 5 included continent will go through a round of qualifiers, nationals, and finals, ultimately resulting in the “Global Finals.” Oceania is a continent, right? Anyway, it’s finally time for all of these smaller countries to put up or shut up and show everyone who really is the best in the world. Will South Korea run away with the show or will an underdog Frenchman rise the ranks and unexpectedly claim the title? I’m leaning more towards the former, but I can’t wait to watch it unfold.

The prize pool and qualifier dates have yet to be announced, but I’ll be sure to let you know once they are!
