BlazBlue creator: Central Fiction has the ‘best ending,’ no extended cut coming

He’s working on a new, non-fighting game next

Depending on your fighting game preferences, this might be good or bad news.

BlazBlue creator Toshimichi Mori has been intimating in the past few months that there won’t be an expansion-style add-on for BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and this week, he’s cemented that fact by explaining that his next game isn’t BlazBlue related — in fact, it’s not even a fighting game.

Naturally he wants to go out on a high note, saying that “no fighting game” has an ending as good as Central Fiction, and that this indeed closes out the story. Arc could of course spinoff or reboot or continue the series into oblivion at their leisure, but for now, don’t expect to see the series around after this one.

Balance patches aren’t out of the question though, and new DLC is a possibility — just don’t plan on plunking down $40 or more on another iteration. If this is it BlazBlue had a good run, and Guilty Gear is once again dominating the scene, so Arc is still pretty damn relevant.
