Bladestorm: Nightmare is a historical game with evil Joan of Arc and dragons

Part history, part fantasy

I didn’t play 2007’s Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War, but I might play Bladestorm: Nightmare, an expanded version of the real-time tactics game for PS3, PS4, and Xbox One.

The core remains the same — you still side with England or France in battles inspired by historical events — but a separate Nightmare mode adds fantasy creatures, hence my sudden interest. This new story has dragons, griffins, and, haha, you’re seeing this cyclops, right?

France and England will need to join forces to stop an evil form of Joan of Arc and her monster army. The mode might be called Nightmare but it sounds like a dream come true.

Bladestorm releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ($59.99) and PlayStation 3 ($49.99; only via PlayStation Network) on March 3, 2015.
