Bit.Trip Runner 2 soundtrack is almost done, more details

We have a big video interview coming up tomorrow with the elusive composer and sound designer for the critically acclaimed Bit.Trip series. This is the first time for this composer to come out to the press and discuss what it was like to work on the games, so Bit.Trip aficionados should take note. He also talks about some of the other games he’s worked on (like Alien Hominid and Homefront), the reasons why the sound and music department is so often ignored by both game publishers, developers, and players, the similarities between Guitar Hero and Call of Duty, and a whole lot more.

That’s for tomorrow. For today, I can give you a little bit of info procured off camera. Bit.Trip fans will be pleased to hear that the soundtrack for Runner 2 is almost done, and it sounds fantastic. I got to hear three tracks from the game, and I don’t think any interested party will be disappointed. The spirit of the original game is fully intact, but this time, the sounds are unhindered by the restrictions set in place by the original Bit.Trip games’ retro style. The same goes for the way the rest of the game, which will feature an all new look and “tons of crazy new moves and abilities” for series protagonist Commander Video.

More on all that as we get it, and tune in tomorrow for the full interview.
