There’s been solid discussion surrounding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and, for that matter, open-world role-playing games more generally, but truthfully, I just want to see more of this talked-up game in action. I suppose it is a bit earlier for that, what with marketing plans and all.

In this video from Game Informer, we’re shown the creation of the ice giant enemy that might look familiar if you’re a subscriber to the magazine. Lead character artist Pawel Mielniczuk quickly runs down the process of designing a monster, from concept art to scale tests to ZBrush sculpting to the final, animated model.

It’s nice to see that they dropped the belt-covered legs. I see what the team was going for with that design, but as Mielniczuk says, it didn’t make a whole lot of sense even if it visually looked neat.
