Bioware talks ‘sword porn’ in latest Origins dev video

You can eradicate a Dark Spawn’s head with a flourish and mount an Ogre with crimson-coated steel in Dragon Age: Origins. But before that fun stuff can happen you must first enter into combat and hack at his health — these gore-smeared scenes are finishing moves that become all the more gratifying after a nasty battle.

Those of you still plodding through Origins know what we’re talking about, but for those who don’t (you’re insane), check out the video above. Recently released by developer Bioware, it reveals a thing or two about the RPG’s semi-real-time battle system as well as delves into the component’s own origins and current design. There’s more to cutting than simply cutting, it appears.

Speaking of design, by the way, I humbly request a more powerful summon skeletons skill for Dragon Age: Origins 2: Origins Harder. Also, a large cat. With metal teeth. And knives for feet.
