So, as you’re all doubtlessly aware by now, thanks to the millions upon millions of community blogs on the subject, BioShock was released in demo form on Xbox Live last night. So great was the response from Xbox Live users that the demo was downloading as slowly as 1% every ten minutes for some people. My Live friends list was just full of people sitting in their dashboards, clearly awaiting their own chance to visit 2K’s nightmarish rapture. Not only did the servers grind to a crawl, in some cases they halted completely. As some people on Evil Avatar complain and as our very own Colette can attest to, Live either shut down completely or locked users out of downloads in a few cases.

That’s perhaps the most encouraging and pleasing thing I’ve seen about this game, as well. Here we have an original IP, one that’s unique and fresh, and people are going nuts for it. You could literally feel the excitement here in the Destructoid community when the news about the demo broke and I loved every hype-filled second of it. This is very promising news for such a challenging and thought provoking title which should hopefully translate to big sales. The fact the demo is absolutely gorgeous won’t hurt either.

But enough about the Xbox 360. Some of you want to know if a PC demo is coming and we can confirm that it is. In a brief announcement, 2K has stated; “For those of you who are looking for a BioShock demo on the PC, it is in the works and will be out later this month.” Check out 2K’s site tomorrow for more details on that front. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go clobber a little girl in anticipation of this highly anticipated masterpiece.
