BioShock 2 has four developers: Arkane Studios the latest

They say too many cooks spoil the broth, but this is obviously not something that 2K Marin agrees with, as it’s enlisted help from a fourth studio to work on BioShock 2. The follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed BioShock will be getting a boost from the chaps behind Dark Messiah and Arx Fatalis.

Arkane will be assisting 2K Marin with level design, and in doing so, it makes BioShock 2 look more like a collaborative effort than ever before. 2K Marin and 2K Australia have both hard at work on the bulk of the game, with Digital Extremes responsible for creating the game’s multiplayer.

“In the past we’ve been working closely with 2K Australia for our tech needs and Digital Extremes for our robust multiplayer experience,” states 2K Marin. “Today I’m proud to say that we’ve added another important developer to the mix. Under the direction and leadership of 2K Marin, Arkane is assisting in the creation of levels that embody the aesthetic and gameplay ideals that make BioShock such a unique and exciting experience.”

It’s cool to see that Marin wants to use other studios if they feel doing so will create a better experience. Let’s just hope that the aforementioned adage about too many cooks doesn’t hold true, and the collision of minds leads to a much better game overall.
