Bill Willingham praises Telltale’s handling of Fables

Comic creator is happy with the treatment of his creation

It’s strange to remember when both The Walking Dead and Fables were announced as projects for Telltale Games. It seemed that its episodic format had worn thin but The Walking Dead seemed to revitalize the company and now upcoming Fables series is something I’m looking forward to. In a Facebook post, Fables creator Bill Willingham has praised Telltale’s handling of his creation.

Fables has been shopped around for a movie or TV show,” writes Bill. “…the scripts told me the same thing: whoever wrote these stories never read Fables, or didn’t like what they’d read.” Telltale’s episodic games have always been been faithful to their source material, for good or ill but Bill seems very very impressed with the studio’s approach. “The men and women at Telltale got the story right. They know the true story of Fables frontwards and back.”

“It’s brilliant to the point of there being far too many moments of, ‘I wish I’d thought of that.'” It’s heartening to see a creator being really happy with the way their work is handled. Hopefully Telltale won’t buckle under the pressure of making the followup to what many considered the best game of 2012.

[Thanks, Michael]
